*SZA says there’s a reason (or several) why her voice was not up to par at Coachella last weekend.

The R&B singer, known and beloved for slaying her live performances, had a rare misfire with her vocals during the near-45-minute set on Friday (April 13).

And fans noticed.

Watch below:

After folks flooded social media with criticism and concern, the TDE star took to Instagram with explanations.

“Every technical difficulty that could’ve went wrong did. Every “friend” I asked to come out bailed on me. Lost my voice completely. Didn’t even get a chance to play the weekend,” she wrote. “Couldn’t believe it was all happening on my biggest stage to date. I LOVE AND ACCEPT ALL CHALLENGES !! THANK U GOD FOR EVERY GROWTH OPPORTUNITY TO STEP INTO BIGGER DRAWS. I AM BIGGER THAN MY ADVERSITY. DOWN 9 TIMES BUT I GET UP 10!!”

According to Billboard, SZA arrived 10 minutes late for her performance, but “the singer-songwriter’s humorous anecdotes and unruffled vocals were enough to make avid listeners overlook her tardiness.”

Once she and Kendrick Lamar finished the set with their “Black Panther” track “All the Stars,” SZA told the audience that she had to cancel the remainder of her set due to time restraints…before she could perform her solo hit, “The Weekend.”

“Yo, they cut my songs,” she said. “I’m sorry, but I’ll make it up to you next week.”
