*Following an outcry from students and alumni, Manhattan’s Fashion Institute of Technology said Monday it is recommending that the honorary degree it bestowed on Bill Cosby be snatched back.

FIT President Dr. Joyce Brown said in a letter to students that she is recommending to SUNY’s board of trustees, which oversees the school, that the special recognition FIT gave Cosby in 2000 at Radio City Music Hall be permanently voided in the wake of his recent sexual assault conviction.

“The degree was offered in recognition of his professional accomplishments and long before allegations regarding his sexual misconduct were known,” Brown wrote, according to Page Six.

Brown noted that the revocation would mark the first time that FIT has pulled an honorary degree.

“However, Mr. Cosby’s criminal and inexcusable behavior proves him to be unworthy of this recognition,” the letter read.

Students and alumni demanded that the school yank Cosby’s degree and ripped administrators for failing to do so immediately after he was found guilty.
