Fox News Uses Black Conservative to Falsely Claim Jemele Hill is Unemployed

*The hosts of “Fox & Friends” dedicated a segment to discuss the National Association of Black Journalists naming ESPN senior correspondent Jemele Hill “Journalist of the Year.”

The show invited black conservative commentator Lawrence Jones III, who, according to splinter news, “attempted to capitalize on stereotypes to drag Hill.”

He said:

The bottom line is she’s unemployed from hosting her own TV show. This is not something we should be promoting….Now she’s unemployed. National Black Association of Journalism [sic] is literally saying we’re going to applaud unemployment and that’s not something I stand for.

I thought we believed in black magic of black business owners. How can she donate to those young black folks if she no longer has a platform? If I want, if I had a little girl, to say, hey, if she wanted to go in sports, she could look up to Jemele. Well, there is no Jemele anymore.

Many people pointed out on social media that Jemele Hill is not unemployed… she’s a senior correspondent and columnist at ESPN’s The Undefeated.

Hill was suspended for two weeks by the network following her proclamation that Donald Trump is a symbol of white supremacy — and the White House wanted her to be fired for her comments.

She’s no longer hosting “SportsCenter,” but Hill remains employed by ESPN. She has also guest hosted “Highly Questionable” and appeared on “SportsNation.”

As noted by Splinter News author Isha Aran, “the phrase “unemployed from hosting her own TV show” clearly shows Jones was dying to use “unemployed” to describe Hill.”

“Fox & Friends” issued a correction regarding Hill’s employment status and put the blame on Jones even though the three hosts didn’t correct him. The show also removed its tweet with footage from the segment.
