*Wakanda was well represented at the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards, with “Black Panther” winning the most film trophies, and winning co-stars Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan making headlines with their acceptance speeches.
“Black Panther” earned four awards, including best movie. Boseman took home two trophies — for best hero and best movie performance — while Jordan nabbed best villain.
Boseman quickly handed off his best hero award to James Shaw Jr., who wrestled an assault-style rifle away from a gunman in a Tennessee Waffle House in April. “This is going to live at your house,” Boseman told Shaw, giving him the show’s golden popcorn award.
The actor said while it was an honor to be recognized for playing a superhero, it was more important to “acknowledge the heroes we have in real life.”
Jordan threw a jab Roseanne Barr and her racism during his acceptance speech.
“I’m shocked that I won this award for best villain,” Jordan joked at the beginning of his speech. “I thought for sure Roseanne had that in the bag.”
He also poked fun at fans who ask Boseman to say the film’s most popular tagline.
“Chadwick Boseman personally asked me to ask y’all to stop asking him to say ‘Wakanda Forever’ out on the streets,” Jordan joked. “Y’all taking the forever thing a little too seriously.”

Tiffany Haddish hosted the show, which aired Monday night across Viacom networks and taped Saturday at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar. Haddish also took home an award herself for best comedic performance in “Girls Trip.”
“Stranger Things” earned three awards, including best show. Millie Bobby Brown also won for show performance, while Noah Schnapp was recognized for frightened performance.
And showing up to present “Black Panther” with its best movie award was Lady Gaga.
First, she surprised everyone by showing up in person to accept the best documentary award for her film “Five Foot Two.”
After thanking fans for her award, she said: “The real reason that I am here tonight is to present the award for Best Movie. The five films nominated this year filled our spirits, broke our hearts, broke the box office and led us on shiny-starred adventures that we are still coming down from,” she said.
She then announced the winner: “Black mother f—– Panther.”
Boseman and Jordan accepted the award along with costar Winston Duke, who said, “Thank you all for investing in not just a beautiful story, but investing in a continued conversation in what this industry and what this culture could achieve — and what we all can aspire to be.”
