Meanwhile, Is Troy Carter leaving Spotify?

According to reports, Carter, who managed Lady Gaga, John Legend and Meghan Trainor, is global head of creator services at Spotify and is said to be joining the exodus from the music streaming company.

Sources say he will soon be moving to Epic Records but spokesmen for both Spotify and Sony say this is not true.

Carter reportedly disagreed with Spotify’s move in May to ban artists with “hate content and hateful conduct” from its playlists, such as R. Kelly and XXXTentacion, both of whom have been accused of domestic abuse.

“These artists have never been convicted of anything. It smacks of censorship,” one music insider said.

The list of those leaving Spotify over the past three months includes: George Ergatoudis, the UK division’s head of content programming; Tuma Basa, head of hip-hop global programming; Angela Watts, head of p.r.; Dave Rocco, global head of artist and label marketing; and Mark Williamson, global head of artist and industry partnerships, per Page Six.
