Omar Epps Discusses ‘Traffik’ & Fatherless to Fatherhood (EUR Exclusive – WATCH!)

*We’ve watched world-renowned actor Omar Epps over the course of more than a twenty-year span and he has certainly become a fan favorite because of his ability to connect to his viewers with his wide array of acting abilities. His big screen debut was in the role of “Q” in the 1992 drama, “Juice”, co-starring Tupac Shakur. Other projects such as “Higher Learning,” “Love & Basketball,” FOX’s “House,” and current television show, “Shooter,” has solidified Epps as a household name.

Robin Ayers of EUR had a chat with the star to discuss his latest film, “Traffik,” his new book, “Fatherless to Fatherhood,” as well as his acceptance into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Omar’s recent role as John in the action thriller “Traffik” comes out on Blu-ray and DVD July 17.  Also starring Paula Patton, the film focuses on a couple who embark on a weekend getaway and discovers trouble with a woman who’s fallen victim to human trafficking.

His character as the love-struck boyfriend to Paula Patton’s character, Brea, evokes raw emotion, of which he says:

“For me it was important that the character was grounded and that he was vulnerable.  Normally in a dynamic on film and television the guy is the one who is apprehensive about committing and this time is was the flip, the woman was.”

When asked why it was important to lend his voice to this film.  Omar says:

“It’s a real problem, not only in our country, in the world abroad and we wanted to shine light on the issue that it’s right under people’s noses and no one knows about it.”

From Fatherless to Fatherhood

In addition to lending his voice to global and social issues, Omar adds fatherhood to his focus in his new memoir entitled, “From Fatherless to Fatherhood,” where he addresses growing up fatherless to now becoming a father of three.  His hopes are that his story “can be used as a tool of inspiration” for other men with children whether they’ve grown up fatherless or not.

Be sure to pick up your copy of “Traffik” on DVD from Lionsgate on July 17, 2018.  His memoir, “From Fatherless to Fatherhood,” is available now at Barnesandnoble.com, Amazon.com and LuLu.com.
