*Recording artist Akon has been called a modern day superhero by some. And rightfully so! His philanthropy work is extensive and his Akon Lighting Africa initiative isn’t only inspirational, it’s groundbreaking and heroic. Now, the Grammy-nominated multi-platinum artist is embarking on yet another astonishing venture with Akoin.
Akoin is a new cryptocurrency and is the foundation of the Akoin Ecosystem which is “a unique global project that offers an abundance of digital and in-real-life platforms and experiences that create opportunity and inclusion for youth entrepreneurs by allowing consumers to buy, hold, and spend cryptocurrency right from their smartphone through a suite of blockchain-powered apps.”
Akon’s Akoin launch party was held in West Hollywood recently and the star received support from fellow entertainers and business professionals. The champagne was flowing and the hors d’oeuvres were makingthe rounds as stars like Cee-Lo Green, Garcelle Beauvais and Young M.A. were in attendance for the upscale event.
“He’s just a humble, cool dude. He’s not just an artist but decided to give back,” says Young M.A. on why this event was important for her to attend.

The man of the hour, Akon was pleased to inform anyone who wanted more information on Akoin although cryptocurrency is something he also had to learn about. Akon says,
“It was something I kind of bumped into. You start to realize everything that’s happening […] there was a lot of unstable currency in the areas I was in, in Africa, unstable governments and a lot of resources being misused in the areas, Akon said. “And I was thinking about how cryptocurrency is now revolutionizing how the transparency of how many is being spent and I was thinking about how that transparency is the one thing that can weed out the corruption.”
His wheels started turning and he teamed up with those necessary to create the wave of the future that is Akoin. In regard to those who still are unsure about cryptocurrency, Akon believes that “Cryptocurrency is definitely the future. People are doubtful because they are miseducated to what this really is.”
