Bored? Genius Move? Kanye Renounces His Name; Will Now be Known as ‘YE’

*Oh lord! We have no idea what prompted this, but Kanye West is claiming that he has renounced his government name and will now only be know as YE. Yes, YE. OK, whatever.

Here’s more from The Blast:

Earlier in the day, YE posted a completely non-self-serving video of an alleged homeless kid, named Nino Blu, praising the rapper for bringing him into the studio after hearing him drop some lyrics on the street. He also looks like he’s got himself a fresh pair of Yeezys.

It’s possible YE feels he has transcended into a higher power, which also may have to do with the Yandhi /Gandhi symbolism. His highly anticipated album is expected to drop Saturday night, and YE appears to be making a hard push to distance himself from his manic behavior during the promotion of last album, when he famously declared that slavery “was a choice.”

Of course, he could revert back to the OG name by Saturday afternoon.

That’s exactly what we’re thinking. This dude is acting more and more like Trump every day.

Anyhoo, speaking of Kanye, er, YE, by now you’re probably aware that he’ll be featured on Saturday Night Live season opener tonight on NBC. But that only happened because Ariana Grande was supposed to be the musical guest, but she cancelled for some reason that’s has yet to be explained other that “emotional reasons.”

That bit of news came from show creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels in an interview this week on James Andrew Miller’s Origins podcast.

Kanye West “stepped up” to replace her, Michaels said.

The Season 44 opener of “SNL” will air live from New York at 11:30 p.m. ET Saturday with West as the musical guest and actor Adam Driver as the host.

Michaels didn’t elaborate on why Grande dropped out of the show, but there is speculation that it has something to do with the singer’s ex-boyfriend, rapper Mac Miller, died of a suspected overdose Sept. 7.

But that doesn’t totally make sense since Grande is now engaged to “SNL” cast member Pete Davidson. The couple’s whirlwind romance blossomed after they met on the show.

As USA Today notes, the timing of Grande’s cancellation was at least good for West , who announced he’ll be dropping his next album, “Yandhi” Saturday to time with his appearance on the show.
