*OK, so what’s the deal with Nicki Minaj and her offer to send actor Geoffrey Owens $25,000? According to TMZ, Minaj has yet to pay Owens one red cent of the money she pledged to donate after it was revealed that he worked part time at Trader Joe’s.
Last week on her ‘Queen Radio’ show, Minaj said she was sending Owens — the “Cosby Show” star who took a gig at Trader Joe’s and was shamed for it — $25,000 to help him out.
“Sources familiar with the situation tell us Minaj and her team have yet to even contact Geoffrey or his people, much less hand over the cash,” TMZ reported.
Here’s what the Jezbel blog had to say about the situation:
This is interesting! Not because Owens needs the money—he’s gone out of his way to say he’s absolutely fine, and the acting roles have been pouring in since the story went viral—but because celebrities should know they can’t say shit like, “I’m giving this other high-profile person $25,000,” on a radio show without expecting outlets like TMZ to see if that check has been written.
Per their source (whom I suspect looks a lot like Elvin Tibideaux), Owens will likely donate the money if it’s sent to him. So! Go ahead, Nicki. The money’s going to a good cause.

Again, TMZ says Owens’ reps were never contacted by Minaj or her team after her radio show. Minaj claimed she couldn’t reach Owens, but his rep told TMZ they are easy to reach.
Here’s the bottom line at this point. $25,000 or not — Owens has been doing quite well since the Trader Joe’s pic hit: He joined Tyler Perry’s “The Haves and the Have Nots” for 10 episodes and landed work on “NCIS: New Orleans.”
Oh yeah, there’s this: Owens’ rep also said the actor is not looking for any handouts from the rap star.
