*CBS’ “HAPPY TOGETHER,” starring Damon Wayans, Jr. and Amber Stevens West is a fun comedy about a 30-something happily married couple who attempt to reconnect with their younger cooler selves when 20’s pop super star Cooper James unexpectedly moves In with them.
Jake, an accountant and Claire, a Bar manager, are very comfortable, enjoying evenings together on the couch watching TV, when their lives are turned upside down by Jake’s exuberant music superstar client.
While pop idol Cooper James (played by Australian actor Felix Mallard), finds comfort and refuge from his fast-paced life as well as the paparazzi in the couples spare bedroom in suburbia, Jake and Claire come to terms with their lack of cool, slow-paced lifestyle, far from the spotlight.
Cooper envy’s their simple and relaxed way of life, discovering how extraordinary a touch of the ordinary can be.

In this week’s episode, airing tonight, Monday 10/29/18 on CBS at 8:30pm E/P, Daman Wayans Jr’s real dad, comic/actor Daman Wayans Sr., takes a break from filming his hit show “Lethal Weapon” to make a guest appearance as Jake’s dad Mike.
“My character doesn’t know that their relationship is pretty surface, and through a series of events he realizes that his dad is holding this big secret from him, “ explains Wayans Jr. “It’s actually a great episode, because I know there are a lot of people out there, especially dudes, that live on the surface with their relationships, they don’t really talk to each other about deep things. So this like an exercise in opening up.”
Damon went on to explain that his relationship in real life with his dad is far from surface. They are very close and actually have spent months out on the road touring the country together as a father/son stand up comedy duo, which Wayans Jr says was an absolute blast. I would loved to have seen this live show. I first noticed Damon Wayans Jr’s comedic chops in the 2014 film Let’s Be Cops in which he stared with Jake Johnson and Keegan-Michael Key, which was admittedly silly but hilariously funny. You may also remember Wayans Jr. from his leading roles on the TV comedies New Girl (Fox) and Happy Endings (ABC).

“Happy Together” is inspired by a true story. British One Direction super star Harry Styles spent 20 months living in the attic of producer Ben Winston’s house, providing some sense of normalcy to a kid who rocketed to fame seemingly overnight. Styles has co-executived produced “Happy Together” along with his former landlord Ben Winston. The show is created by Austen Earl (“The Great Indoors”) and Tim McAuliffe (“The Last Man on Earth”).
