Simone Biles Becomes First Woman to Win 4 All-Around World Titles

*Simone Biles has made history as first woman to win four all-around world titles.’

As reported by PEOPLE, for the fourth time, Biles was the winner of the women’s all-around at the 2018 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships on Thursday, according to Team USA.

Competing in Doha, Qatar, Biles defeated silver medalist, Mai Murakami of Japan, by an impressive 1.7 points, and the defeat came after she left the hospital without passing a stone she has dubbed the “Doha pearl”.

“Nothing like a late night ER visit less than 24 hrs before world championships,” Biles wrote on Twitter. “This kidney stone can wait…. doing it for my team! I’ll be gucci girls!”

She also shared the selfie to her Instagram and captioned the shot, “This kidney stone has nothing on world championships.”

In a video posted online by USA Gymnastics, the reigning Olympic champion said, “We had to go to the ER, because I’ve been having stomach pains on my right side for two days,” she revealed.

“We started to think it was my appendix, so we wanted to go as a precaution. We got tests done and they found a kidney stone. I’m in a bit of pain [today], so adrenaline helps.”

The Guardian writes, “Biles fell twice, on vault and balance beam, and put one foot out of bounds on her first tumbling pass on floor exercise. But even with the mistakes, it was Biles largest margin of victory at the world championships.”
