Tamera Mowry-Housley: Why is it so important to right these wrongs and get people out there to vote?
Jeffrey Wright: Well, I think Twitter is a great way to disseminate information. The ACLU has a website that allows you to go in and look at all the candidates on the ballots wherever you are and make a determination about how they stand on criminal justice reform. If you look at a case like a Kalief Browder, for example, was a young man who was charged with a crime in New York City stealing a backpack, that was ultimately proved to not be him. Right? But, he served two years in prison. He ended up killing himself when he got out because of the experiences of, with trauma he had on the inside. He had a bail that his parents couldn’t afford. Right? And that bail is set by law. Who makes the laws? Those that we vote into office.
Jeannie Mai: That’s right.

Jeffrey: So, you have a young man like that that got caught up in the system… and it ended his life.
