*A new restaurant called “Just Turkey LA” was recently launched in Los Angeles. Yes, it’s a restaurant featuring turkey served all kinds of ways. Read on for the backstory.
Just Turkey Restaurant was founded in 2008 by Chicago natives Brian and Greg Morton, whose intentions were to bring a healthier alternative to the community. Brian and Greg love visiting their cousin, Nicolle Thompson-Williams, in sunny California.
While visiting they would eat at various restaurants and noticed that the menus did not offer turkey dishes. For approximately three years they implored with their cousin to establish a Just Turkey restaurant in California. Finally their persistence was rewarded, and Nicolle decided in February, 2018, that she would bring the unique turkey concept to Los Angeles. Since it started as a family affair, Nicolle wanted to keep the family concept and asked Shalimar Anderson-Horsley if she would become her partner in Just Turkey LA.
Nicolle Thompson-Williams is a native of East St. Louis, and an alumna of UCLA. Nicolle received an athletic scholarship to UCLA in track and field. She received her B.A. in Economics. Nicolle is currently a Riverside County Deputy Sheriff. Nicolle has two children, Jamaal Williams and Jaela Williams. Jamaal is an alumnus of Brigham Young University (BYU) and currently plays for the Green Bay Packers. Jaela graduated from Serra High school in the city of Gardena and currently runs Track at UNLV. She will graduate in 2019.

Shalimar Anderson-Horsley hails from southcentral Los Angeles, by way of Memphis, Tennessee. A proud graduate of Alain Leroy Locke High School, Shalimar is an alumna of Pomona College (Claremont Colleges) and received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Black Studies; Claremont Graduate University, where she received a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction; and Cal State Fullerton, where she received a Masters Degree in Education Administration. Shalimar completed thirty-eight years as a successful educator in several Southern California school districts, and is now employed as an education consultant. The proud mother of three adult children and nine grandchildren, who she refers to as her “Divine Nine,” Shalimar enjoys dancing, traveling, shopping and sports.
Just Turkey LA at 3340 South La Cienega Blvd in Los Angeles still represents the Chicago Style by offering fresh produce, fresh baked whole wheat bread and turkey specialties prepared with their special seasonings.
