Stars Walk Away from Social Media as Platform Turns Toxic

*More and more of your favorite celebrities are turning away from social media as the platform continues to morph into a breeding ground for hate.

What was once a place for celebs to use for marketing and branding purposes has turned into the go-to for bullies and stalkers who attack high profile people with millions of followers. Some celebs have responded by quitting social media, while a few others have been driven to commit suicide.

Kanye West deleted his social media accounts for the third time back in October after criticism for his pro-Trump comments.

As reported by Sandra Rose, “Breaking Bad” star Aaron Paul told his 2.6 million Twitter followers on Monday that he is stepping away from social media to “focus on work and family”. He also wiped his timeline of all other tweets.

“I have decided to take a break from all things social media. Keeping my head up and phone down for a little while,” tweeted Aaron, who welcomed his first child with wife Lauren Parsekian in February, according to WENN.com.

Paul added that he needed “some time to focus on work and family. Can’t thank you all enough for the love and support. Much love to you all.”

His announcement came a day after “Riverdale” star Lili Reinhart told her fans on Instagram that she’s walking away from the toxic environment on Twitter.

“Do people on Twitter ever get tired of being so negative and disrespectful to literally everyone and everything? Are they really that miserable?” she wrote.

“There’s hate everywhere. But especially on Twitter. It’s like a cesspool for evil 15-year-olds who don’t know what the hell they’re talking about and have nothing better to do… Taking a break from that toxic site and the people on it who feel the need to attack me, my cast mates, my relationship and Riverdale.”

In June, “Stranger Things” actress Millie Bobby Brown broke the hearts of the millions who follow her on Twitter when she announced she was taking a break from the platform.

Actress Selena Gomez also said bye-bye to social media in September.

Here’s a list of celebrities who deleted their social media and why.
