THE REAL Welcomes Joey Fatone and Tamera Mowry-Housley Remembers Her Late Grandmother

Tamera & rest of real crew

*On Tuesday, January 8, co-host Tamera Mowry-Housley returns after the loss of her grandmother and emotionally relays the legacy that her family’s matriarch left behind.  Then, the ladies of The Real pay also tribute to the passing of everyone’s favorite Betta fish, Fernando Idris Goldstein Lee, who left this earth over the holidays for the larger pond in the sky.

Also, the co-hosts discuss the negative effects of the current U.S. government shutdown and the recent clemency of sex trafficking victim, Cyntoia Brown, who was convicted of killing her captor when she was 16. Then, the ladies lighten things up as they talk about if it is possible to have as much sex as rapper Nicki Minaj.

Later, singer, actor and host Joey Fatone stops by to talk about hosting the new game show Common Knowledge, the rumored feud between NSYNC and Backstreet Boys, and if he thinks his former boyband would be just as successful in current times as it was back in its glory days.

Tamera Talks About Her Grandmother’s Passing and the Legacy She Left Behind

Tamera Mowry-Housley: You know, it’s been a challenging two months.

Loni Love: It is.

Tamera: To say the least.  My faith is just stretching and growing… My grandmother was eighty nine.  She was eight days shy of her ninetieth birthday. Um… she was an amazing soul. Beautiful inside and out.

Adrienne Houghton: Beautiful.

Tamera: And even in her last days, she was glowing.  She was glowing.  She preached all the way until the end.  I’m telling you, she was an amazing woman of God.  And what I loved about her was that if you were blessed enough to meet her… you were changed forever in a positive way.  So, she’s left a beautiful legacy. I’m gonna continue with that legacy… to the best of my ability.

Tamera: And we love her, we miss her, but I know where she is.  She’s with the Lord and she’s in no more…

Loni: She left you a prayer bracelet.

Tamera: Yes. So, you guys, when you see this red string on me, a lot of people think it’s Kabbalah.  No, it’s not.  My grandmother has been doing this for years.  As long as I can remember.  And this is a prayer line.  So, she would pray and she used red to represents the blood of Jesus Christ. And she would pray for the people she loved. So, it’s just a reminder that I know who I am.  And I know whose I am.  And that we’re protected.

Adrienne: I love that.  We’re just so happy to have you back and I love the things that she has imparted in you and that you continue to impart those on us and with the people who watch the show.

Tamera: Thank you.

Adrienne: We love you, we love you, we love you.
