Kristoff St. John: Actor’s Last ‘Y&R’ Episode Airs Wednesday; Show to Pay Tribute Friday

*Reps at CBS have confirmed that Kristoff St. John will make his final appearance on Wednesday’s episode of “Young and the Restless” following the actor’s sudden death at age 52.

St. John, who played Neil Winters on the soap opera since 1991, will appear in the role one last time Feb. 6 (12:30 p.m. EST).

The network will also honor the late actor’s legacy with a special tribute during “Y&R” on Friday.

To honor Kristoff St. John, #YR will air a special tribute to him during the show on Friday, Feb. 8. His final episode of The Young and the Restless will air tomorrow. Please join us in saying goodbye to a beloved member of the Y&R and @CBSDaytime family,” per the Y&R Twitter account. 

St. John was pronounced dead at a home in Woodland Hills on Sunday. As we previously reported, St. John had checked into UCLA Medical Center in January to treat depression related to his son’s suicide and was days before his death, according to TMZ.

The determination of his cause of death has been deferred “pending additional investigation” after an autopsy was completed Monday, according to the coroner’s official website. 

CBS and Sony Pictures Television released a joint statement following his death.

“The news of Kristoff St. John’s passing is heartbreaking. He was a very talented actor and an even better person,” they said in the statement. “For those of us who were fortunate enough to work with him on ‘The Young and the Restless’ for the last 27 years, he was a beloved friend whose smile and infectious laugh made every day on set a joy and made audiences love him. On behalf of the Y&R cast and crew, CBS and Sony Pictures Television, we offer our heartfelt sympathy to his family and loved ones, especially his two daughters, Paris and Lola.”

St. John’s work on the show earned him nearly a dozen Daytime Emmy Award nominations and 10 NAACP Image Awards.
