ZENDAYA other and Dream in Black Honorees Share How They Will Continue To Pave The Way For Future Makers

● This February, AT&T will celebrate Black History Month with its inaugural Dream in Black 28 list – a celebration of 28 creators who have dared to Dream In Black.

Each week, we will unveil seven people from the specially curated list and celebrate their accomplishments and courage to Dream In Black.

● Dream in Black is an always-on platform where AT&T celebrates Black culture and the creators who shape it. Dream In Black embodies a mindset where success can look like anything that we can dream. The platform views the world and creativity through an afro- futuristic lens that is rooted in AT&T’s technology, innovation and entertainment which helps to power the possibilities.

● As celebrities have paved the way for so many, we recognize that there are everyday people making extraordinary changes in their community. The Dream In Black 28 contest will provide an opportunity for consumers to be added to the Black Future Month list and win a flyaway trip for two (2) to Hollywood, CA to attend one of Black culture’s biggest events in entertainment.

● The Dream In Black 28 Experience is a Dream In Black initiative designed to tell inspirational stories that explores and cultivates the interest in African American history and powers the possibilities of the future.

● AT&T created the Dream in Black 28 list to:
o Celebrate creators paving the way in the Black community as they shape the now, the new, and the next.
o Honor and inspire entrepreneurs, artist and anyone who continues to inspire the African American community.
o Fuel a national conversation on African American achievements and to encourage the next generation to continue the pursuit of black excellence.
o Pay homage to leaders of the past as we celebrate the future.
● We recognize that we stand on the shoulders of giants, so we created a list to honor those who have paved the way for the current generation of future makers and the future makers of tomorrow.

● In support of the Dream in Black platform, AT&T has:
o Curated a list of 28 creators, curators of culture and future makers
o Sponsored a contest to recognize a consumer, who is currently changing the future as it relates to the Black culture, on the inaugural Dream in Black 28 list
o Sponsored one of the biggest events in Black entertainment – NAACP Image Awards
o Partnered with Black Girls Code to donate $50,000 to their organization

● For years, AT&T has supported organizations working to increase access to technology and entrepreneurship skill building opportunities for underserved and underrepresented youths.
o One of the organizations we support, Black Girls Code, is changing the landscape of the technology industry by introducing young women of color from marginalized communities to coding and STEM through workshops, hackathons and summer camps.
o Over the course of 2018, AT&T has given $1M to support Black Girls Code’s programming.
o During Black History Month, we will celebrate the work that we are doing together with these organization to prepare and fill the jobs of the future with a talented and diverse workforce.

● As a leading tech company, AT&T has created a custom emoji keyboard to capture and enhance the consumer text message and social media experience.
o The keyboard will be available to consumers during Black Future Month and updated year-round for continuous engagement with relatable expressions, gestures and symbols.
